Santa’s Sacking

“I can’t believe it.  Two days!  Two days we lasted!!  And I can’t believe out of the pair of us, it was you who got us the sack!!”  Rumil all but bellowed at Orophin as he stripped out of his green and red uniform.  Orophin looked glumly at Rumil.

“I’m really sorry.  I-”

“Don’t speak to me – just get dressed and we’ll go home.”  Rumil threw the bag of clothes at Orophin and finished getting changed.

~flashback~

The first morning of work had started badly for Orophin.  He knew it as soon as he saw Rumil, ready to leave for work already dressed in his ‘Santa’s Elf’ uniform.  Orophin rolled his eyes and said, “Tell me you’re not wearing that on the bus!?”  Orophin glared at Rumil as he buttered his toast.  He didn’t plan on getting changed into his uniform until the last possible moment.  He still had grave misgivings about this but had promised Rumil – and Legolas – to at least give it a fair chance.

“I happen to like the uniform – it’s festive!”  Rumil replied.  “Besides, I think it suits me.”  He peered at his reflection in the back of a spoon and preened.  Orophin rolled his eyes once more.

As the pair walked down the road to the bus stop, Orophin tried to ignore the curious looks from passers by.  He was convinced that everyone was staring at them and had slowed his pace so he walked a few steps behind Rumil.  Eventually the reached the stop and waited for the bus.

“If you have an expression like that all day, you’ll frighten the kids.  At least try to look happy.”  Rumil dug his elbow into Orophin’s side and flashed him a fake smile.  “Like that.  Oh, and if you keep rolling your eyes like that, they’ll fall out.”

They arrived at work with a little time to spare, which was lucky for Orophin who had yet to change.  Rumil chatted with the other ‘Elves’, getting to know his new colleagues – and deciding which one he’d pull at the inevitable Christmas party.  Finally, Orophin joined them.

“And this is my brother, Orophin.”  Rumil introduced him to the group; Vicki, Samantha, Lauren and Guy.  Three females and three males.  Rumil liked those odds.  After the introductions were made, the six of them awaited the arrival of the big man himself, Santa Claus.  They all sat on comfy sofas, drinking coffee and chattering excitedly about working in the Grotto.  Well, all except Orophin who tried his best not to look too miserable, but failed…miserably.  All talk ceased when a large man, dressed in red walked into the staff room.  He walked over to the group and introduced himself.

“Hello.  I’m Santa.”  Santa introduced himself to his helpers then led them to the shop floor Grotto.  He gave Samantha and Guy instructions on greeting the children and getting the tickets from the parents, Lauren and Vicki were to manage the queue and Rumil and Orophin had the best job (in Rumil’s opinion).  They were to stay in the Grotto with Santa, helping him with the kids and dispensing the gifts.  Orophin’s heart sank at this news, but he tried to look enthusiastic.

Rumil loved every minute of working with Santa, but for Orophin the day dragged.  When it was finally time for them to finish up and go home, Orophin was greatly relieved.

“First day over, eh Orophin?  It was great, wasn’t it?”  Rumil’s cheeks were flushed with joy and he couldn’t stop smiling.

“Yeah, fantastic.”  Orophin groaned as he changed back into his civvies.  He’d had his hair pulled numerous times, sticky fingers had grabbed at him and his back ached from bending over the present sack all day.  Rumil may have had one of the best days of his life, but this had been one of Orophin’s worst.  He dreaded coming back the next day and the day after that.  And the day after that.

“Let’s go home.  I need to get this bubble gum out of my hair.  Then, I may get very, very drunk.”  Orophin picked at the pink, sticky stuff which was attached to the end of his hair.

Orophin didn’t feel any more enthusiastic about his job on day two.  The morning crawled along and by lunchtime, Orophin was thoroughly depressed.  The other ‘Elves’ had gone for their lunch break, along with Santa but Orophin elected to stay behind in the Grotto.  It was shut down for an hour and he needed some peace and quiet.  This job just wasn’t for him and he resolved to tell Rumil that night that he planned to hand in his resignation.  He sat on Santa’s throne and groaned.  That wouldn’t be fun – he could picture the look of disappointment on Rumil’s face.

“Surprise!”  A voice made Orophin look up.  He smiled when he saw the visitor.

“Legolas – what are you doing here?”  He asked.  Legolas put his finger to his lips to shush Orophin.  He crept over to where Orophin sat and knelt in front of him.

“I told you I wanted to see you in your uniform, so I thought I’d pay you a little visit.  Besides, you told me how miserable you were yesterday when you called me.  I thought I’d cheer you up.”  Legolas winked at Orophin.  He slid his hands up Orophin’s legs and massaged his thighs, then spoke again.  “How much time have we got before lunch break is over?”

“Another twenty-five minutes.  What are you doing!?”  Legolas was pulling down Orophin’s leggings and kissing his abdomen.  Despite the fear of being caught, Orophin felt himself growing aroused.  He watched Legolas kiss lower, shrugged his shoulders and decided to just let it happen.  He didn’t hear the footsteps until it was too late.

“Orophin?  Are you in here.  I was worried so I came to see if you were alri-“  Rumil was cut off mid-sentence by the sight before him.  “What are you doing?”  He hissed.

Legolas lifted his head, winked and Rumil and said “What does it look like?”  He then went back to pleasuring Orophin.

“Stop that at once!  If you get caught, you’ll get Orophin sacked!  Orophin – make him stop!”  Rumil tried to appeal to Orophin, but Orophin was lost in pleasure.  Rumil covered his face with his hands and groaned, “Please, Orophin…”

“Shut up, Rumil…hmmm…feels so good.”  Orophin clasped the back of Legolas’ head and encouraged him to speed up his motions.

“Honestly…”  Rumil sighed and turned to leave, but the exit was blocked by a large man in a red suit.  His red cheeks were redder than usual – Santa was furious.

Rumil watched the events unfold as if he were in a trance.  As Santa advanced, Orophin arched his back and released into Legolas’ mouth.  Legolas spotted Santa and swallowed furiously.  Orophin’s eyes had fluttered shut, so he had no idea what was going on, it was only when Legolas was yanked away that he realized that he had been caught.  He opened his eyes, saw Legolas give him an apologetic look then made himself scarce.  Orophin slowly turned his head and came eyeball to eyeball with an apoplectic Santa.

~end of flashback~

Rumil slammed the door behind him and Orophin winced.  Rumil then stomped through to his bedroom and slammed that door too.  Orophin went through to the living room.  Legolas sat there, looking concerned.

“You’re home early – dare I ask what happened after I left?”  Orophin shook his head and flopped down on the sofa and rested his head on Legolas’ shoulder.

“I think you can guess why we’re home early.  Funnily enough, Santa didn’t take to kindly to…well, you know.  He ordered me to ‘make myself presentable’ then told me and Rumil to see him in the manager’s office.  When we got there, Santa had told the manager everything.  We were – of course – fired on the spot.  I tried to tell them that Rumil had nothing to do with it, but they didn’t listen.  We were given 10 minutes to get changed, return the costumes and get off the premises.  Oh, not only are we sacked but we now have a lifetime ban from the shop.  I think it’s an understatement to say that Rumil’s pretty pissed off with me.”  Orophin stopped to take a breath.

“I’m really sorry, Orophin.  This is all my fault…”  Legolas hugged Orophin closely.  “I should never have come today.”

Orophin shrugged.  “It’s not so bad.  I hated the job and I really enjoyed what you did for me.  I just wish Rumil hadn’t got caught up in it all.  I’ll have to spend the next six months trying to make up for it.”  He looked up when he heard Rumil come into the room.

“Six months?  Try a year!”  Rumil growled.

“I’m so sorry.  Really!  I promise I’ll make it up to you.”  Orophin contemplated dropping to his knees and begging for forgiveness.

“Oh, I know you will.  I will think of a suitable punishment, don’t you worry.  But not right now, I’m off out.”  It was only then that Orophin noticed that Rumil had got changed into a crisp, white shirt and a pair of black jeans.  He raised an eyebrow in Rumil’s direction.

“Heh-heh.  I may have got fired, but the day wasn’t all bad.  Before we left, I managed to snag Lauren’s telephone number.  I just called her and we’re going out clubbing.  Don’t wait up.”  Rumil winked at Orophin and Legolas, and headed out the front door.

“At least that’ll improve his mood.”  Legolas mused.

“True.  He might be more inclined to forgive if he gets lucky tonight.”  Orophin crossed his fingers.  “Anyway, he’s gone out so that means we have the place to ourselves.  I believe I might have a favour to return…”
